I have been working in Istanbul for the last one year. Because of the nature of my job, I often have to travel to different locations. I recently went to Kuwait for a business meeting. To ensure a comfortable stay, I booked The Regency Kuwait, one of the best hotels there. Located on a private beach on the Arabian Sea Coast, it offered a wide range of facilities.
The rooms of the hotel had marbled bathrooms, Italian furniture, access to free internet, Egyptian cotton bed linen, a TV and private balcony. The recreation facilities included the availability of a lap pool, one pool exclusively for ladies, an infinity pool and two children’s pools. The hotel was also located at a short distance from the Kuwait International Airport and Salmiya Souk. I was satisfied with all the necessary information available on the website and booked the hotel.
I reached Kuwait City from Istanbul by the Turkish Airlines. The plane landed at the Kuwait International Airport during the evening. Here are some of the major highlights of my Kuwait trip: -
Visiting the major attractions around the city
I was busy with the meeting during the first day of my stay here. So, I went out for sightseeing the next day, which was a Saturday. I first went to the Kuwait Towers. Its architecture is influenced by both traditional Islamic as well as modern architectural themes. It has similarities with the blue tiled mosques and lean minarets of Bukhara and Samarkand. The tower dominates the skyline of the city.
I also visited the Failaka Heritage Village. The old fashioned yet spacious houses gave me an idea about how the Kuwaiti people used to live in the past. It also has stables for horses and camels. I spent some time riding Arab horses before departing. The Al Khout Beach offers a panoramic view of the Persian Gulf. I enjoyed the cool breeze while walking across the beach. The dancing fountain here created a relaxed ambience, helping me get over the worries of my day to day life.

Tasting Arab delicacies
I came back to my hotel after spending a few hours in visiting the major locations around the city. The lunch was served to me within a short period of time. Potato and Rice Kibbeh was served as a starter. Prepared using minced lamb, potato and rice as the main ingredients, it also contained raisins and pine seeds. It went well with the yoghurt and created an appetite for a heart lunch.
I also had Chicken Biryani as part of the meal. Prepared using tomato paste, garlic, onion, ginger, yoghurt and spices, the biryani had a unique aroma. The chicken pieces were tender and suited my palate.
Returning to Istanbul
I stayed in Kuwait City for four day during which I spent my free time either in shopping or visiting the major tourist attractions. The locals are friendly and hospitable by nature. So, my trip was a highly enjoyable one.
